San Francisco Zoo
As home to more than 6,800 animals and 14 species of rare
and exotic monkeys, the San Francisco Zoo is loved by children
of all ages. Along with viewing the animals, you can ride
the Dentzel Carousel and the old fashioned miniature steam
engine, the Little Puffer, see 2 different movies at the
Wildlife Theatre or enjoy hands-on animal activities and
learning at the Connie and
Bob Lurie Education Center.
Of course, the primary focus of the zoo is the animals.
You can see kangaroos and wallabies in the Australian Walkabout,
see the gorillas in Gorilla World, see the antics of the
penguins in Penguin World, see the big cats in the Lion
House and get and closer look at our 6 legged friends in
the Insect Zoo.
You can see an assortment of shows and demonstrations,
go on a 30 minute tour on the Zebra Zephyr Safari train,
participate in a hands-on livestock demonstration at the
Barnyard or go on a nature trail petting zoo tour.
